Accessibility statement

This office is committed to making its website usable by everyone, including people who use assistive technology.

The standard we build to

This site is built to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.1 at Level AA. That is the standard referenced by Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act for state and local government websites.

What that means in practice:

  • Text and background colors are checked against WCAG contrast thresholds, and every pairing used on the site is measured rather than assumed.
  • Every page works from the keyboard alone, and the focus indicator is visible on every control.
  • Headings run in order, so screen reader users can navigate by structure.
  • The site reflows to a 320 pixel viewport without horizontal scrolling.
  • Text can be resized through your browser without breaking the layout.
  • Motion is reduced automatically if your device asks for it.

Known limitations

We would rather tell you where the gaps are than claim there are none.

  • The property records search runs on a separate, older system operated outside this website. It has not been audited to the same standard, and we are reviewing it.
  • Some documents are only available in paper form at the office. Call us and we will read a document to you or post it.
  • Maps are provided as a static image with the address in text beside them, rather than an interactive map, because an interactive-only map is a keyboard trap.

Report a barrier

If any part of this site stops you from getting what you need, tell us. Describe the page and what happened, and we will fix it or give you the information another way.

We will not make you use the website.

Anything you can do here you can also do by telephone or in person. Call the office and we will complete it with you.
